The Jews of Monastir (Bitola), Macedonia
who perished in Treblinka Death Camp
in March 1943
Index of their names

by Mathilde Tagger

Introduction
Mark Cohen's book "Le dernier centenaire d’une communauté sépharade; les Juifs de Monastir 1830-1943" (The last century of a Sephardic community: The Jews of Monastir 1830-1943), tells the story of this Macedonian community upto March 1943. The last two chapters describe the period of the 2nd World War in Macedonia and ends with the sad detailed list of 746 families who were deported and murdered in the Treblinka deah camp.
The present index contains all the surnames of the Shoah victims from Monastir without additional details (first names, ages, professins) but reveals the number of families carrying the same names and the number of murdered individuals. A note is added when a surname has several variants.
