The late Professor Jose Luis Lacave was an expert in Semitic philology and the history of the Jews in Christian Spain.
Professor Lacave gathered thirty ketubot (marriage contracts)- marriages celebrated in fourteen communities- from
various medieval Hispanic kingdoms. The author examines the historical and legal aspects of these ketubot and
includes in his research a study of each one and a detailed comparison between them. The book includes illustrations
of the ketubot, some handsomely decorated, in full color.
The present index includes 104 different surnames among those mentioned in these 30 marriage contracts. Joint to
the surnames this compilation provides given names, the related year and locality and occasional added annotations.
