Prominent Jews in Egypt (1942-1943)
Source: Annuaire des Juifs d'Egypte 1942 & 1943
Compiled by Mathilde Tagger

Introduction

Only 2 yearbooks of Egyptian Jewry were published: the first in 1942 and the last one in 1943. They were published in the same spirit as the "Jewish Year Book" of Great Britain although here the period was that of WW II.

At the end of the 2 yearbooks, there was a list of prominent Jews of the time along with a short biography and from time to time a photo.

The present annotated index covers 189 persons, scholars, tradesmen, rabbis, bankers, civil servants and others.
